Add 100,000 jobs in non- agricultural areas such as retailing, small manufacturing and expansion with existing employers.
We believe the high cost of tuition, room and board at private and public higher education institutions needs to be reversed and lowered as the rate of return on such an education may no longer be reasonable.
Our government costs are too high. Our taxes are too high. Both must come down.
We do not condone any government agency blanketing anyone and everyone they can with secret surveillance without a court order before the spying operation begins, and only if the court order is directed at a specific target.
We respect the commitment and sacrifices of our military volunteers, and we feel that we should do everything possible to take care of their needs when they return and help them find good jobs.
It is time for change in Iowa
Iowa’s government was organized in the 1800’s when we had horses and buggies but today we need to move into the 21st century. Our statewide population has not grown much but our government budgets have grown from $2 billion in 1970 to over $33 billion in 2014. We need to reorganize Iowa’s government, its costs and taxes. We spend over $10 billion on education each year yet over half of our high school students and half of our college graduates need to leave Iowa to find employment. Half of our cities are dying with less than 500 residents. Half of our counties are losing population. We have lost over 300,000 family farms since 1970. Our streams and rivers are some of the most polluted in the USA. Our teachers, farmers and factory workers are all over 55 average years of age. Our taxes are some of the highest in the country. Yet we have a governor who is running for an unprecedented sixth term saying that Iowa is perfect just like it is today. Iowa needs new jobs, new people, new ideas and new diversity. It is time for change in Iowa.
